How does TPM compare to the OEM contract?
Example VSP F700 with 4-year Premium Support: EUR 18,000–24,000/year OEM (incl. SVOS patches + Ops Center), EUR 8,500–11,000/year with TechCare TPM (hardware maintenance without software subscription).
- EOSL hardware: On VSP G1000/G1500 (EOSL 2024), USP-V and legacy AMS/HUS 60–75 % savings — Hitachi renewals often no longer available, TPM is the only economic path for 3+ years further coverage.
- Multi-year contract: 3-year TPM contract: additional 5–10 % discount, 5-year contract: 10–15 %. On multi-VSP fleets (E-Series + F-Series + G-Series in one data center) consolidation discount 15–20 % versus separate Hitachi Premium tariffs.

Why Hitachi Vantara maintenance via TechCare instead of Hitachi Support / Hitachi Premium Support
Hitachi Vantara has a specific market: DACH banks, insurers, critical infrastructure and government agencies often run VSP storage productively for 10+ years. This hardware is enterprise-grade, durably constructed and runs technically stable well past official EOSL. Hitachi Support, however, follows a strict lifecycle plan and discontinues service after 7 years — OEM refresh pressure kicks in even though the hardware still works flawlessly.
TPM offers the classic path: hardware maintenance with OEM original parts from our own inventory and certified refurbisher sources, SLA up to 24×7×4, German-speaking engineers with mainframe-adjacent expertise. 30 to 60 percent below Hitachi Support on current generations, 60 to 75 percent on EOSL platforms (VSP G1000, USP-V, AMS).
Hitachi-specific TPM topics: storage virtualization layer (HUR, GAD, TrueCopy) remains functional without active contract (no license lock-out); FICON connectivity to mainframe (z/OS, z/VM) stays in service scope with our engineers; SED encryption key management with documented custody chain for BAIT/MaRisk audits. Compute Blade hardware fully serviceable via TPM — OEM coverage hard to obtain after blade EOSL anyway.
