Hitachi VSP F-Series Maintenance — vendor-independent service for F350–F900 All-Flash

We service Hitachi VSP F-Series after factory warranty and Hitachi Vantara Support — vendor-independent, with OEM FMD and SSD modules, SLA up to 24×7×4. Complete F family: F400/F600/F800 (Gen1, 2016), F350/F370/F700/F900 (Gen2, 2018). 30 to 60 percent below Hitachi list price.

Which VSP F models we service

The VSP F-Series shares the hardware platform with the G-Series, but exclusively with FMD and SSD modules — no spinning-disk configuration. F400/F600/F800 (Gen1, 2016) have largely reached EOSL; F350-F900 (Gen2, 2018) are approaching EOSL from 2025.

Why TPM maintenance instead of Hitachi Vantara Support for VSP F

Hitachi Vantara Support for the VSP F-Series follows the same logic as the G-Series: renewals for older Gen1 models become increasingly rare or are offered at rates designed to make a refresh more attractive. For F400/F600/F800, EOSL was reached in 2023-2024 — TPM is the only economic path. Gen2 (F350-F900) follows this pattern from 2025.

We service F with OEM FMD and SSD modules from our own warehouse. FMD availability is the decisive point — Hitachi-specific custom components, not generically replaceable. We positioned early for Hitachi EOSL support and sourced components accordingly. Re-manufactured FMDs as an option when OEM stock is depleted.

FAQ on VSP F-Series maintenance

Which VSP F models do you service?
Complete F-series in both generations: F400, F600, F800 (Gen1, 2016) and F350, F370, F700, F900 (Gen2, 2018). All-Flash configurations with FMD and SSD, all connectivity options (16G FC, 8G FC for older Gen, 10/40 GbE).
What does TPM cost for VSP F compared to Hitachi Support?
30 to 60 percent savings, up to 70 percent on EOSL Gen1 (F400/F600/F800). A VSP F700 (Gen2) with 24×7×4 costs 16,000 to 22,000 EUR/year with Hitachi Vantara, 7,000 to 11,000 EUR with TechCare. F900 higher in absolute terms.
Can you still get FMD modules for older VSP F?
Yes. FMDs of all generations are stocked — 1.6 TB, 3.2 TB, 6.4 TB and 14 TB. For very old 800 GB FMDs (early Gen1), availability is limited; we check individually and may use re-manufactured FMDs from certified refurbishing pipelines.
Do Universal Replicator and TrueCopy continue to work on VSP F?
Yes. Both replication stacks are part of the VSP firmware and continue to work without licensing. ShadowImage snapshots, Dynamic Provisioning and Tiered Storage Management also stay active. Code updates to newer microcode versions require an active Hitachi contract.
Which SLA levels do you recommend for VSP F?
All-Flash storage is typically tier-1 — we recommend 24×7×4 with German-speaking onsite engineer. For VSP F as secondary replication target or test environment, 5×9 NBD can be economical.
What's the difference between VSP F and VSP E from a maintenance perspective?
VSP F (2016/2018) is SAS/SATA FMD-based, VSP E (2020+) is an NVMe-native platform with a completely different storage stack. From a maintenance perspective: different parts pipeline. If you have F and E mixed in the data center, we cover both in one multi-generation contract.
Do we lose the warranty?
No. Factory warranty and Hitachi Vantara Support are contractual services. After factory warranty you're free to choose any maintenance partner. Even a switch mid-contract is possible — economically usually best at contract end.
How fast do we get a quote?
Within 48 hours after receipt of your inventory list with model, generation and serial number.
