Hitachi Compute Blade & Advanced Server Maintenance — vendor-independent service

We service Hitachi Compute Blade 500/2500, Advanced Server DS and UCP platforms — vendor-independent, with OEM components and SLA up to 24×7×4. Covers typical DACH niche fleets in Japanese subsidiaries, financial sector and manufacturing. 30 to 60 percent below Hitachi Vantara Support, up to 70 percent on EOSL blades.

Which server models we service

Hitachi Compute Blade is an x86 blade architecture that Hitachi has continued for DACH customers with Asian corporate backgrounds. Compute Blade 500 (mid-range) and Compute Blade 2500 (high-end) are the two chassis platforms. Advanced Server DS are classic rack servers, UCP are validated stacks for VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V or Oracle.

Why TPM maintenance for Hitachi server platforms

Hitachi servers have a small but stable install base in DACH — typically in Japanese subsidiaries, the financial sector and manufacturing environments with long certification cycles. Hitachi Vantara has scaled back server sales in DACH and is focusing on storage and HCI — result: maintenance contracts for Compute Blade are getting more expensive and harder to obtain. We close exactly this gap.

We stock Compute Blade-specific components — server blades (BS320, BS520, BS520H, BS2500), chassis components for CB 500 and 2500, switch modules, CPU and RAM modules. For Advanced Server DS and UCP, we leverage the fact that the hardware is OEM-based (typically Quanta or Foxconn) — many components are generically available, which simplifies maintenance.

Generations timeline & TPM coverage

Per hardware generation: vendor phase (slate) and TechCare coverage window (teal) up to ~5 years post-OEM EOSL.

EOSL status of server platforms

Compute Blade generations follow a 6-7 year EOSL cycle. CB 500 series has largely reached EOSL, CB 2500 is approaching. Advanced Server DS and UCP are current or in transition depending on generation.

Model family Released OEM support ends TPM status
Compute Blade 500 (early Gen) 2010–2012 2018–2020 Recommended
Compute Blade 500 (late Gen) 2014–2016 2022–2024 Recommended
Compute Blade 2500 2014–2017 2023–2025 Recommended
Advanced Server DS G2 2018–2020 ca. 2026–2027 Supported
UCP HC / CI / RS 2018+ ca. 2026+ Supported

FAQ on Hitachi Compute Blade maintenance

Which Hitachi server platforms do you service?
Compute Blade 500 (chassis with BS320, BS520, BS520H server blades) and Compute Blade 2500 (chassis with BS320, BS520H, BS2500). Advanced Server DS-series (DS120 G2, DS220 G2, DS240 G2) as rack servers. UCP (Unified Compute Platform) as converged stacks: UCP HC (hyper-converged), UCP CI (converged), UCP RS (rack-scale). Including all components and switch modules.
What does TPM cost for Compute Blade compared to Hitachi Support?
30 to 60 percent savings, up to 70 percent on EOSL CB 500. A fully populated CB 500 chassis with 8 blades and 24×7×4 costs 22,000 to 30,000 EUR/year with Hitachi, 9,000 to 15,000 EUR with TechCare. CB 2500 higher in absolute terms. Advanced Server DS significantly cheaper than Compute Blade.
Can you still get server blades for CB 500 and CB 2500?
Yes. BS320, BS520, BS520H and BS2500 server blades of all generations are stocked — including CPU and RAM modules for the different socket generations (Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3/v4, Skylake, Cascade Lake). For very old BS320 blades (early CB 500 Gen), availability is limited; we check individually or use refurbishing partners.
What about Hitachi software on the servers (HVM, JP1)?
HVM (Hitachi Virtualization Manager — embedded hypervisor) and JP1 (Job Management) are software licenses that run separately from hardware maintenance. Customers actively using HVM or JP1 should keep the software subscription with Hitachi. Hardware maintenance runs in parallel via TPM, no functional loss.
Can we have Compute Blade and VSP storage in the same contract?
Yes, that's standard. Multi-vendor and multi-class contracts are our strength — Hitachi Compute Blade as server fleet, VSP G/F/E as storage fleet, HCP for object storage, all in one contract, one point of contact, one SLA report set. Plus all other vendors (Dell, HPE, Cisco, etc.) in the same construct.
Which SLA levels do you recommend?
Compute Blade chassis as primary compute platform: 24×7×4 with German-speaking onsite engineer. For secondary CB fleets (test, dev, or manufacturing backup), 5×9 NBD often suffices. Advanced Server DS in standard IT roles: 5×9 NBD sufficient. UCP stacks (tier-1 workloads): 24×7×4 recommended.
How does Hitachi Vantara behave with a TPM switch?
Neutral to slightly negative, depending on account manager. Factory warranty and Hitachi maintenance contracts are contractual services — after factory warranty you're free to choose any maintenance partner. For a TPM switch during an active Hitachi contract, termination at contract end is the clean path. Hitachi doesn't block actively but pushes refresh as an alternative.
How fast do we get a quote?
Within 48 hours after receipt of your inventory list with model, generation, blade count and serial number.
