Dell HCI Maintenance — vendor-independent hardware service for VxRail, VxFlex, vSAN Ready and XC

We service the hardware layer of Dell HCI platforms — VxRail, VxFlex/PowerFlex, vSAN Ready Nodes and XC with Nutanix — vendor-independent, with OEM original parts and SLA up to 24×7×4. Your VMware, vSAN or Nutanix subscription stays untouched. Also in the EOSL period. 30 to 60 percent below OEM list price. Fixed-price quote in 48 hours.

Which Dell HCI platforms we service

HCI is always a hardware-software stack — we handle only the hardware layer (compute nodes, disks, NICs, backplanes). The software subscription — vSphere/vSAN license, VxRail Manager, PowerFlex stack or Nutanix AOS — stays contractually with the respective vendor. This preserves functionality while significantly reducing hardware maintenance cost.

VxRail · VMware-centric HCI
VxRail E-Series (Edge) · V-Series (VDI) · P-Series (Performance) · S-Series (Storage-Heavy) · D-Series (Ruggedized) · VxBlock 1000 converged stack
VxFlex / PowerFlex · Software-defined storage
PowerFlex Rack · PowerFlex Appliance · older VxFlex generations (VxFlex Ready Node, VxFlex OS) — hardware is standard PowerEdge base
vSAN Ready Nodes · validated PowerEdge configurations
PowerEdge R-Series and MX-Series as pre-validated vSAN-Ready configs · R650/R750/R760 vSAN profiles · older R640/R740 vSAN configs
XC-Series · Nutanix appliance on PowerEdge
XC430 · XC640 · XC740 · XC940 with Nutanix AOS · XC Core and XC Xpress · older XC630/XC730 generations

Why TPM makes sense for Dell HCI

HCI hardware is fundamentally PowerEdge hardware with an additional software stack. OEM maintenance bundles hardware service and software subscription into a package price that's significantly higher than the sum of its parts. We cleanly separate the two layers: we handle hardware, software subscription stays with Dell, VMware or Nutanix.

Dell ProSupport for VxRail includes full Lifecycle Manager support — you still need that, we don't touch it. The hardware service component built into the bundle pricing is what we replace with our own service at 30 to 60 percent lower cost. The same model works for PowerFlex and the XC line.

Generations timeline & TPM coverage

Per hardware generation: vendor phase (slate) and TechCare coverage window (teal) up to ~5 years post-OEM EOSL.

EOSL status of Dell HCI platforms

For HCI hardware, Dell defines end-of-support along the same lifecycle rules as classic PowerEdge servers (typically seven years post-release). VxRail-specific generations like E460F or V470F are often already EOSL in DACH and trigger steep price jumps on OEM renewal. That's exactly where TPM pays off. Software lifecycle (VxRail Manager, vSAN versions) is to be assessed separately.

Model family Released OEM support ends TPM status
VxRail E460F / V470F / P470F 2017 2024 Recommended
VxRail E560F / V570F / P570F / S570F 2018 2025 Recommended
VxRail E660F / V670F / P670F 2021 ca. 2028 Supported
PowerFlex Rack (Gen1/Gen2) 2017-2019 2024-2026 Recommended
XC630 / XC730 (mit Nutanix) 2015-2016 2022-2023 Recommended
XC640 / XC740 / XC940 2018-2020 2025-2027 Supported

What we deliver

OEM original parts for all HCI components

Our own warehouse stocking disks, NVMe SSDs, NICs, backplanes and PSUs for VxRail, PowerFlex and XC generations — including end-of-life models like E460F or XC630.

Software subscription untouched

vSphere/vSAN licenses, VxRail Manager, PowerFlex stack and Nutanix AOS continue contractually with the respective vendor. We address only the hardware layer.

Onsite engineer · DACH-wide

German-speaking technicians with HCI experience, 4-hour response time guaranteed. HCI disk swap and node replacement work like regular PowerEdge hardware.

Flexible SLA per cluster or per node

Parts Only, 5×9 NBD or 24×7×4 — combinable by site and cluster criticality. With Dell often only available as a bundle.

Multi-vendor contract

One contract for Dell HCI, classic PowerEdge, HPE, Cisco or Lenovo HCI. Consolidating contracts noticeably reduces admin overhead.

EOSL tracking & reporting

Monthly SLA reports, cluster asset overview, automatic notification when a generation reaches EOSL.

FAQ on Dell HCI maintenance

Which Dell HCI platforms do you service?
We service the hardware layer of all current and older Dell HCI platforms: VxRail (E, V, P, S and D series including VxBlock 1000), VxFlex/PowerFlex (Rack, Appliance, older VxFlex Ready Nodes), vSAN Ready Nodes on PowerEdge R/MX base, and the XC series with Nutanix AOS (XC430, XC640, XC740, XC940 and older XC630/XC730).
What happens to our VxRail or VMware software subscription?
Nothing. We touch only hardware maintenance. Your VMware vSphere/vSAN license, VxRail Manager with Lifecycle Manager and all software updates continue contractually through VMware or Dell unchanged. You retain all update rights, cluster compatibility matrix and HCL validation.
Can you also service older VxRail generations (E460F, V470F)?
Yes, this is even one of our core areas. Once Dell ends official support for a VxRail generation — the E460F family has been EOSL since 2024, the V470F since 2024 — OEM extensions are either no longer offered or become disproportionately expensive. We continue servicing these generations with OEM original parts, even past OEM EOSL.
What does TPM for VxRail cost vs. Dell ProSupport for VxRail?
In the DACH mid-market we typically see 30 to 60 percent hardware-layer savings vs. the Dell ProSupport VxRail bundle. For EOSL generations like E460F or V470F up to 70 percent. Important: the OEM bundle also includes Lifecycle Manager support — that stays with Dell, the hardware portion is what we offer cheaper. A typical 4-node VxRail cluster saves 8,000 to 14,000 EUR per year.
How does disk and node replacement work on VxRail with TPM?
We deliver the hardware swap (disk, NIC, node component) like regular PowerEdge maintenance. Subsequent vSAN cluster reintegration runs via VxRail Manager or the vSAN disk-group mechanism — exactly as it would under OEM maintenance. The procedure is identical because the software layer is unchanged.
What about PowerFlex maintenance — isn't the hardware generic?
Correct, PowerFlex Rack and PowerFlex Appliance are based on standard PowerEdge hardware. We service the hardware as usual, the PowerFlex software stack (PowerFlex Manager, MDM/SDS/SDC) stays contractually with Dell. The same applies to older VxFlex Ready Nodes.
Can we keep using Nutanix AOS on XC hardware?
Yes, fully. The XC series is Dell hardware with Nutanix AOS — we service the hardware (PowerEdge base), the Nutanix subscription with Prism Central, AOS updates and LCM stays unchanged via Nutanix or Dell. Pulse telemetry, AOS upgrades and all cluster operations work as usual.
Which SLA levels do you offer for Dell HCI?
We cover all common SLA levels: Parts Only with 4-hour shipping, 5×9 Next Business Day with onsite engineer in business hours, and 24×7×4 with guaranteed 4-hour onsite response. For high-criticality HCI clusters (production vSAN, mission-critical Nutanix) we recommend 24×7×4. SLA can be chosen per cluster or per node.
