Why TPM maintenance instead of Dell ProSupport (Storage)

Dell EMC Storage was historically expensive under EMC maintenance — and Dell ProSupport hasn't made it cheaper. For VNX-1, VNX2 and the entire VMAX-1 family, renewal is either no longer offered or quoted at rates suggesting hardware refresh.

For current platforms we cover the hardware layer; software subscriptions (CloudIQ, AppSync) run separately via Dell. We're transparent about where TPM alone is sufficient and where software subscription should stay with the OEM.

EOSL status of major generations

Once the vendor ends official support, renewals become unavailable or disproportionately expensive. TPM closes exactly this gap — same hardware coverage, same SLA, significantly cheaper.

Which Dell EMC Storage systems do you service?
Complete family: PowerStore, Unity and Unity XT, VNX-1 and VNX2, VMAX-1 and PowerMax, Isilon and PowerScale, XtremIO, Compellent SC, EqualLogic PS, Data Domain. Including older EOSL models.
What does TPM cost compared to Dell ProSupport?
30 to 60 percent savings vs. Dell ProSupport, up to 70 percent on EOSL platforms like VNX2 or VMAX-1. A Unity 500 with 24×7×4 contract costs 8,000–12,000 EUR/year with Dell, 3,500–5,500 EUR with TechCare.
What about CloudIQ, AppSync or PowerProtect?
Software subscriptions run separately via Dell. Active users keep them. For stable legacy setups TPM alone is sufficient.
Can you service VNX-1, VNX2 and VMAX-1 long past EOSL?
Yes, this is a focus area. VNX 5300/5500/5700 (EOSL 2020), VNX2 (EOSL 2023) and the entire VMAX-1 family. We stock disks, controller FRUs, SLICs and PSUs.
Which SLA levels for storage?
Parts Only, 5×9 NBD, 24×7×4. For storage we typically recommend 24×7×4 due to business criticality.
Do Unisphere and Solutions Enabler still work?
Yes. Both are part of the storage system itself. Code updates for Unisphere have limited access without ProSupport — usually no issue with stable legacy setups.
Do we lose the warranty?
No. Factory warranty and ProSupport are contractual services. After factory warranty you are free to choose any maintenance partner.
Does this also apply to Data Domain?
Yes. Data Domain DD2200 to DD9800 and newer PowerProtect DD models. Same SLA options as primary storage.
