Supermicro SuperStorage Maintenance — vendor-independent service for 2U to 90-bay

We service Supermicro SuperStorage Server after factory warranty and Supermicro support — vendor-independent, with OEM HDDs, SSDs, NVMe, backplanes, SAS expanders, RAID controllers and power supplies from our own warehouse, SLA up to 24×7×4. Complete family: 2U/3U platforms with 12-45 bays and 4U top-loading with 60-90 bays. 30 to 60 percent below Supermicro support.

Which SuperStorage models we service

SuperStorage Server differ from standard rack servers through high bay density and storage-specific hardware components — SAS expanders for 60-90 HDDs, backplanes with hot-plug architecture, redundant RAID controllers. Two form factors: 2U/3U (12-45 bays) and 4U top-loading (60-90 bays).

Why TPM maintenance for SuperStorage

SuperStorage maintenance has high HDD/SSD defect rates — with 60-90 bays per platform and 5-7 years productive runtime, drive replacement is the most frequent maintenance case. Standard HDDs and SSDs are the component focus — Supermicro uses standard enterprise drives without proprietary firmware lock-ins, making refurbishing pools deep and economical. TPM terms for SuperStorage are significantly more attractive than for proprietary-component storage OEMs.

We service SuperStorage with OEM HDDs (SAS/SATA, 4TB-22TB), SSDs, NVMe, backplanes, SAS expanders, RAID controllers and power supplies from our own warehouse. For 4U top-loading platforms we also stock specialty components like top-loading backplanes. SuperStorage is often integrated in software-defined storage setups (Ceph, MinIO, Scality, IBM Spectrum Scale) — TPM is ideal here because the storage software layer runs independently.

FAQ on SuperStorage maintenance

Which SuperStorage models do you service?
Complete SuperStorage family: 2U/3U platforms (SSG-2029P-DN2R24L, SSG-6029P-E1CR24L, SSG-540P-E1CTR45L with 12-45 bays) and 4U top-loading (SSG-6049P-E1CR60L, SSG-540P-E1CTR60L and 90-bay platforms). Including all HDDs (SAS/SATA, 4TB-22TB), SSDs, NVMe drives, backplanes, SAS expanders, RAID controllers, CPUs, RAM, power supplies and NICs.
What does TPM cost for SuperStorage compared to Supermicro support?
30-60% savings. SSG-6029P-E1CR24L (24-bay) 24×7×4: Supermicro 2,200-3,200 EUR, TechCare 950-1,400 EUR. SSG-6049P-E1CR60L (60-bay): 3,500-5,000 vs 1,500-2,300. 90-bay: 4,500-6,500 vs 2,000-2,900. Backup cluster with 8-16 SuperStorage platforms: five-figure annual savings.
How is HDD/SSD availability for high bay density platforms?
Deep and structured available. We stock enterprise HDDs in all relevant capacities (4TB-22TB) as SAS and SATA, plus enterprise SSDs (SAS/SATA/NVMe 480GB-15TB) and NVMe drives. Refurbishing pools deep because DACH storage fleets regularly free up refresh-related — we supply OEM drives or certified refurbishing drives (typically 30-50% cheaper).
Do Ceph, MinIO, Scality or Spectrum Scale continue to work without a Supermicro contract?
Yes. Software-defined storage stacks (Ceph, MinIO, Scality RING, IBM Spectrum Scale, Quobyte, etc.) run completely independent of server hardware maintenance — these software subscriptions are separate contracts with respective SDS vendors. TPM for SuperStorage hardware platform and SDS software subscription in parallel is the standard constellation.
Which SLA levels do you recommend for SuperStorage?
Use-case dependent: Backup repository and archive storage: 5×9 NBD or Parts Only sufficient. Object storage clusters (Ceph, MinIO) with productive workload: 24×7×4 due to recovery performance at node outages. Hyperscale backup targets with RTO requirements: 24×7×4. High bay counts (60-90): we recommend on-site spare HDDs (5-10% of total bay count).
Can you service top-loading backplanes?
Yes. Top-loading architecture (60-90 bays with bay slots from top instead of front-loading) is mechanically more complex than standard front-loading — backplanes have higher complexity. We stock top-loading backplanes for SSG-6049P, SSG-540P-E1CTR60L and 90-bay platforms, plus associated SAS expanders and cabling components.
Can we get standard components (CPUs, RAM, NICs) for SuperStorage?
Yes. SuperStorage uses standard server components: Intel Xeon CPUs, DDR4/DDR5 RAM, 10G/25G/100G NICs (Mellanox/NVIDIA, Intel, Broadcom). We supply from our own warehouse as OEM components or certified refurbishing pools. For SDS setups high-speed NICs are often required (100G for Ceph backend, 25G for frontend) — we stock these.
Can we have SuperStorage, standard rack and GPU servers in the same contract?
Yes. Multi-class contracts are our strength — Supermicro SuperStorage, standard rack, Twin/BigTwin/FatTwin, GPU SuperServer and older X9/X10/X11 — all in one contract. Plus all other vendors (Dell, HPE, Lenovo) and complementary storage hardware (NetApp, Pure, IBM).
