NETAPP MAINTENANCE · TPM AFTER NETAPP SUPPORTEDGE

NetApp Maintenance — vendor-independent service for FAS and AFF storage

We service NetApp FAS and AFF storage systems after NetApp SupportEdge expiration — vendor-independent, with OEM original parts (disks, NVRAM, controller FRUs, PCM modules) and SLA up to 24×7×4. Also after End-of-Availability. 30 to 60 percent below NetApp list price.

Which NetApp FAS & AFF models we service

NetApp is storage standard in DACH mid-market and enterprise. We cover the full FAS range (hybrid) and AFF (all-flash) — from older FAS2200/FAS3200 up to current AFF A800/A900. Important: ONTAP software subscription stays with NetApp, we handle the hardware.

SolidFire · scale-out storage
SolidFire SF series (SF2405/4805/9605/19210/38410) · NetApp HCI with SolidFire backend · older Element OS generations — hardware maintenance separate from Element OS subscription, which stays with NetApp

N3220 · N3240 · N6220 · N6250 · N7900 · N7950T — IBM-branded NetApp FAS hardware from the 2005-2014 OEM partnership, multiple generations EOSL but still productive in install bases

Why TPM maintenance instead of NetApp SupportEdge

NetApp SupportEdge is solid, but not cheap — especially for older FAS and AFF systems still running flawlessly after 5–7 years. At End-of-Availability (NetApp's term for lifecycle end), renewals are either no longer offered or quoted at rates that suggest replacement, even though the hardware still runs problem-free.

We provide OEM original parts (disks of all generations, NVRAM modules, controller FRUs, PCM modules, PSUs), experienced storage engineers (ONTAP-aware, hardware-focused) and SLA up to 24×7×4. We clarify the ONTAP subscription topic transparently — for active new ONTAP features NetApp usually still makes sense, for legacy versions TPM alone is sufficient.

Generations timeline & TPM coverage

Per hardware generation: vendor phase (slate) and TechCare coverage window (teal) up to ~5 years post-OEM EOSL.

EOSL status of major generations

Once the vendor ends official support, renewals become unavailable or disproportionately expensive. TPM closes exactly this gap — same hardware coverage, same SLA, significantly cheaper.

Model family Released OEM support ends TPM status

FAS3200-Serie (3220 / 3240 / 3270) 2012 2020 Recommended

FAQ on NetApp FAS & AFF maintenance

Which NetApp systems do you service?
FAS2200/2240/2552/2554/2620/2720/2750, FAS3200/6200/8000/8200/8300/8700/9000 series, AFF A200/A220/A300/A400/A700/A800/A900 plus ASA series, E-Series (E2700, E2800, E5600, E5700) and StorageGRID (SG5600, SG6000). Disk shelves DS2246, DS4246, DS460C, NS224.
What does TPM cost compared to NetApp SupportEdge?
For NetApp storage we see 30 to 60 percent savings vs. SupportEdge, 50 to 70 percent on End-of-Availability models. A FAS8040 with 24×7×4 contract costs 4,800 to 7,200 EUR/year with NetApp, 1,800 to 3,000 EUR with TechCare.
What happens to ONTAP software subscription?
ONTAP runs as software separately via NetApp. Hardware maintenance and ONTAP subscription are separate: if you actively need new ONTAP features (SnapMirror Cloud, FabricPool to S3, new ONTAP versions), keep the software subscription with NetApp. We cover hardware defects independently. For stable legacy setups TPM alone is often sufficient.
Can you service FAS systems that are already EoA?
Yes. FAS2200, FAS3200, FAS6200, FAS8000 series are all EoA and still in production in many DACH data centers. We stock disks (SAS, SATA, SSD of all generations), NVRAM modules, controller FRUs and fans/PSUs.
Which SLA levels for storage?
Parts Only, 5×9 NBD, 24×7×4. For storage we typically recommend 24×7×4 due to business criticality.
Do Active IQ and SnapCenter still work?
Active IQ (cloud analytics) requires active NetApp subscription. SnapCenter and SnapManager tools are software, their licenses run separately. For active cloud feature usage we recommend keeping NetApp subscription for the software layer and covering only hardware maintenance via TPM.
Do we lose the warranty?
No. Factory warranty and SupportEdge are contractual. After factory warranty you are free to choose any maintenance partner.
Does this also apply to E-Series and StorageGRID?
Yes. E-Series (E2700, E2800, E5600, E5700, EF series) as block storage and StorageGRID (SG5600, SG5700, SG6000, SG6060) as object storage we service. Including disk shelves DS2246, DS4246, DS460C, NS224.
