IBM STORAGE MAINTENANCE · TPM AFTER IBM TLS

IBM Storage Maintenance — vendor-independent service for FlashSystem, Storwize, DS8000 and TS-Tape

We service IBM Storage after factory warranty and after IBM TLS — vendor-independent, with OEM parts and SLA up to 24×7×4. FlashSystem, Storwize, DS8000, SAN Volume Controller and TS-Tape libraries — also in the EOSL period.

Which IBM Storage models we service

IBM Storage holds a special position in DACH banks, insurers and public sector. Storwize V7000, DS8000 and TS-Tape libraries serve as backbone for AIX and mainframe workloads. We service all generations.

Why TPM maintenance instead of IBM TLS / Storage Hardware Maintenance

IBM Storage anchors business-critical workloads — DS8000 in mainframe environments, Storwize/FlashSystem as AIX backbone, TS-Tape as compliance storage in banks. IBM TLS is expensive compared to the market.

We understand IBM Storage's quirks. We stock OEM parts for Storwize, DS8000 and TS libraries. IBM Storage Insights as cloud subscription stays separate.

Generations timeline & TPM coverage

Per hardware generation: vendor phase (slate) and TechCare coverage window (teal) up to ~5 years post-OEM EOSL.

EOSL status of major generations

Once the vendor ends official support, renewals become unavailable or disproportionately expensive. TPM closes exactly this gap — same hardware coverage, same SLA, significantly cheaper.

FAQ on IBM Storage maintenance

Which IBM Storage systems do you service?
FlashSystem, Storwize (V3700, V5000, V7000 Gen1-3, V9000), DS8000, SAN Volume Controller, TS-Tape libraries. Older systems on request.
What does TPM cost compared to IBM TLS?
30 to 60 percent savings vs. IBM Technical Lifecycle Services, up to 70 percent on EOSL models. A Storwize V7000 Gen2 with 24×7×4 costs 6,000–9,500 EUR/year with IBM, 2,500–4,000 EUR with TechCare.
Can you service Storwize V7000 Gen1/Gen2?
Yes. V7000 Gen1 (EOSL 2018) and Gen2 (EOSL 2022) still productive in DACH. Disks, cache modules, controller nodes and PSUs in stock.
What about DS8000 and mainframe connectivity?
We service DS8870, DS8880 and DS8900F fully. FICON to mainframe (z/OS) remains unchanged. Mainframe specifics (HMC) are familiar.
What about IBM Storage Insights?
Storage Insights as cloud analytics runs separately. Active users keep IBM subscription. Local tools (Spectrum Control) continue independently.
Which SLA levels for IBM Storage?
Parts Only, 5×9 NBD, 24×7×4. For DS8000 we recommend 24×7×4. For TS-Tape 5×9 NBD often suffices.
Do we lose warranty or IBM certifications?
Factory warranty and TLS are contractual. Hardware certifications remain — a maintenance contract doesn't change the machine's certification.
Does this apply to TS-Tape libraries?
Yes. TS3100 to TS4500 and TS7700 — including tape drives and robotics.
