F5 Maintenance — vendor-independent hardware maintenance for BIG-IP appliances
We service the hardware layer of F5 BIG-IP appliances with OEM original parts and SLA up to 24×7×4. i-series, r-series, older s-series and VIPRION chassis. Also in the EOSL period. F5 software licenses (BIG-IP LTM, ASM, APM, AFM, DNS) stay with F5 — we separate layers transparently. Typical TPM topics at the network layer: optic and transceiver replacements (most frequent hardware defect after PSU), linecard/module hot-swap for zero-downtime swaps, and config backup of switch/routing settings before every intervention.

How does TPM compare to the OEM contract?
Example F5 BIG-IP i5800 with 4-year Standard Support: EUR 5,000–7,000/year OEM, EUR 3,100–3,400/year with TechCare TPM (hardware layer).
- EOSL hardware: On EOSL models (s-series BIG-IP 1600/2200/3600, VIPRION 2400/4400, older i-series) 50–70 % savings vs. F5 Standard Support — F5 typically allows EOSL extension only 2 years.
- Multi-year contract: 3-year TPM contract: additional 5–10 % discount, 5-year contract: 10–15 %. Plus fixed-price lock against OEM list-price increases.
- BIG-IP LTM/ASM/APM/AFM/DNS software licenses
- F5 iHealth + software updates
- F5 TAC software tickets
- Hardware defects (memory, disk, PSU, mainboard, modules)
- 24×7×4 on-site SLA with German-speaking field service
- Spare-parts logistics DACH + global hub network
- Fixed-price contract in 48 h, one inventory — one contract
Why F5 maintenance via TechCare instead of F5 Standard Support / F5 Premium Plus
F5 BIG-IP is at its core a software product — the hardware appliance is the platform for BIG-IP licenses like LTM, ASM, APM, AFM or DNS. F5 Premium Support typically bundles software and hardware support into one contract, which becomes expensive at hardware refresh. For existing appliances running flawlessly, the economic question is: maintain the hardware layer separately and keep only the software license with F5.
We service F5 hardware with OEM parts. The BIG-IP software license and threat intel subscriptions stay with F5 — that's the honest recommendation, because F5 software updates and security patches are consolidated there. For hardware defects you have a separate service path without software bundling.
Networking-specific TPM topics: In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU) for zero-downtime swaps of linecards and supervisor/routing modules, planned optic/transceiver replacement (the most common network defect after power supply), and traffic mirroring before every hardware change for clean BGP/OSPF convergence without forensic gaps.
